The National Library of Montenegro “Đurđe Crnojević” informs users of its services and the general public that, due to conservation and restoration work, the entrance door to the building of the former French Embassy, which houses the Department of National Fund, Legacies and Old and Rare Books, will be removed until the work is completed. Due to the safety of the funds and the building itself, after their dismantling, a temporary fixed protection will be installed.
In order to ensure the smooth functioning of the Department, a side entrance will be opened for users on the left side of the building, which will also be an entrance for employees.
The entrance iron double door with an integral part is original and in very poor condition. Conservation works include the removal of all unstable colored layers, corroded surfaces, restoration of missing elements, realization of functionality and adequate final impregnation. The work is carried out by the Center for Conservation and Archeology of Montenegro.
With the completion of these conservation and restoration works, the rehabilitation project of the wrought iron fence, two double gates, four decorative lanterns and the front door of the former French Embassy will be completed. All work was entrusted to the Center for Conservation and Archeology of Montenegro, with the consent of the Administration for Protection of Cultural Property.
