10th
South East European National Librarians Conference was organized by the National
and University Library “St. Kliment Ohridski” from Skopje from October 4 to 6 in
Struga.
Director Dragica
Lompar, MSc, and Head of the Department for Library Information System and
Digitization, Vjenceslava Ševaljević, MSc represented the National Library of
Montenegro “Đurđe Crnojević” at this gathering.
Before the
official opening of the Conference, an exhibition of posters was opened,
presenting special collections of the NUL “St. Kliment of Ohrid” through
reproductions of library assets declared cultural heritage of special and
exceptional importance, as well as other materials.
The theme of the
Conference was “Trends in Library Practice”. Welcome speeches were given by the
Deputy Minister of Culture of North Macedonia, Daim Lući, and the director of
NUL “St. Kliment Ohridski” Rahmetula Kući.
Except
representatives from Montenegro, this year's Conference was attended by
representatives of national libraries from: Bosnia and Herzegovina, North
Macedonia, Croatia, Albania, Kosovo, Bulgaria, Hungary, Turkey and the
Institute of Information Sciences from Maribor.
The participants
of the Conference presented their experiences from library practice in their
countries as part of interesting and inspiring presentations.
At the end,
conclusions were adopted for continuous monitoring of trends and implementation
of innovations in library activities, especially in the field of digitization
and automation of processes, further improvement and intensification of
bilateral and multilateral cooperation of national/state libraries in the
region, initiation of joint projects, sharing of experiences and the like.
