On May 4 and 5, 2023, the
National and University Library in Zagreb (NSK) organized and hosted the
twelfth D-fest, conference focused on the digitization of cultural and
scientific heritage, systems for the management of digital resources, products
and services and the promotion of digitization projects.
Zorica Sjekloća, librarian advisor
at the National Library of Montenegro “Đurđe Crnojević”, took part in the
event, and the topic of her presentation was Digitization of the “Voice of Montenegrin”.
Speaking about the mentioned
weekly newspaper for politics and literature, which was published in the period
from 1873 to 1922, Sjekloća pointed out that it has the status of a cultural property
of exceptional national importance and that the goal of digitalization, apart
from the availability of content to end users, was protection of the paper
version, which due to frequent use was in poor condition.
Colleague Sjekloća, among other
things, explained to the participants of the meeting that on the pages of this
Montenegrin newspaper it is possible to follow the overall life of Montenegrin
society in a fifty-year period, as well as all important events related to the
Balkans and Europe, stressing that all issues of this newsletter that the
Library has in its funds, as well as certain missing numbers from the funds of
other institutions from the country and abroad have been digitized.
