The National Library of
Montenegro “Đurđe Crnojević” has made sure to include Montenegrin libraries on
the IFLA library map of the world. IFLA is the International Federation of
Library Associations and Institutions, and the goal of the mentioned map is to
create reliable library statistics, which enables comparison at the world
level.
For now, it includes 337 national,
84.392 academic, 408.823 public, 24.241 community, 2.2 millions of school
libraries. The total number of registered users of libraries in the world
exceeds the number of one billion people, who are met by a total of 1.6 million
library employees. Data on the number of volunteers, loans, physical and
electronic, as well as the number of physical visits to libraries are also
available.
