On November 26 last year M.Sc.
Đurđa Martinović, librarian-consultant, successfully completed the first “Transition
to cataloguing with normative control” course and obtained a license to perform
it independently. During December 2021 and in January and February this year 15
courses were held with a total of 117 participants.
The course was attended by
librarians from Montenegrin libraries who have licenses for mutual cataloguing.
Ms. Martinović introduced them to cataloguing with normative control and to the
possibility of choosing an individual approach in working with normative
records, as well as connecting links in bibliographic records with CONOR
records, and the COMARC/A manual - i.e. format for normative records.
After completing the course,
participants gained the privilege of creating a short CONOR record. They also
got access to a test database where they can practice everything they learned
during the course so that they can start working smoothly when the entire
COBISS.CG system switches to cataloguing with normative control.
Ms. Martinović conducted all
courses in a highly professional manner, with the help and support of employees
at the COBISS Center of Montenegro.
