Preparatory activities for the
introduction of cataloguing with normative control for personal names have been
initiated in the library-information system of Montenegro from the beginning of
2019.
In order to implement them, a
fifteen-member editorial team was first formed and the initial base of CONOR.CG
was created, after what its editing started.
During this year, all necessary
preparatory works were performed in the National Library of Montenegro “Đurđe
Crnojević”, i.e. in the COBISS Center of Montenegro, in order to start
conducting a one-day course “Use of COBISS3 software / switching to cataloguing
with normative control” at the end of the year.
MS Đurđa Martinović, conducted
the first course after several months of preparation under the mentorship of
instructor Gordana Mazić from IZUM, on November 26, in the Library in Cetinje. It
was attended by eight cataloguers from the COBISS.CG system.
The content of this one-day course
includes cataloguing with normative control, individual approach to working
with normative records and work assistance, connecting determinants in
bibliographic records with CONOR records, introduction to the COMARC / A manual
– i.e. format for normative records, creating a short CONOR record, and working
with CONOR records.
Instructor Mazić followed the
course through ZOOM, and she assessed its performance as extremely successful,
which was confirmed by the surveys filled out by the participants.
Mrs. Martinović thus acquired a
license to conduct this course independently, and thus confirmed the license to
conduct the “Use of the program COBISS3 / Cataloguing – starting course” in an
expanded scope, which will include the part related to cataloguing with normative
control.
