Session of the COBISS.Net Council which was attended by its members who are directors of national libraries and heads of COBISS centers in seven countries (Slovenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Montenegro, Macedonia, Bulgaria and Albania), as well as Dr. Bhanu Neupane, UNESCO representative and Dr. Aleš Bošnjak, director of the Institute of Information Sciences (IZUM) from Maribor, took place on October 26 via Zoom platform.

The session, chaired by Dr. Ismet Ovčina, Director of the National and University Library of Bosnia and Herzegovina, was attended by representatives of NLM: MS Dragica Lompar, Director and MS, Vjenceslava Ševaljević, Head of the COBISS Center of Montenegro.

At the beginning of this session, the Council accepted Hrastelj Gašper, the head of the Slovenian National Commission for UNESCO, as a new member. There was talk about the Development Assistance Project for the expansion of the COBISS.Net network, about the modalities of Croatia's inclusion in COBISS.Net, and about the intensification of cooperation between national libraries.

The Unpaywall platform, which will enable open access to free academic resources, was also presented.

It was also emphasized that UNESCO supports the networking of the region's libraries through the COBISS system, and financial support has been agreed through joint projects.

Dr. Aleš Bošnjak informed the members of the Council that the Slovenian Ministry of Education, Science and Sports has allocated a total of 20 thousand euros to IZUM for this year, with a recommendation to spend the amount in accordance with the number of libraries participating in the COBISS.Net network per each member country. The money will be allocated to members on the basis of an action plan and a proposal for the purpose for which the funds will be spent, and IZUM has recommended that the focus should be on the promotion of new functionalities or the inclusion of new libraries.
