The bibliography “Music in Old
Montenegrin Periodicals” by Senad Gačević, a full time professor at the Music
Academy of the University of Montenegro has been recently published by the National
Library of Montenegro “Đurđe Crnojević”.
This publication, which is an
important source for the study and development of musical life in Montenegro,
contains 2829 bibliographic items and includes old Montenegrin periodicals,
consisting of magazines and newspapers, from 1871 to 1943.
Bibliographic units in this book are
divided into two groups. The first consists of articles on Montenegrin music, i.e.
musical events in Montenegro, which relate to the activities of music societies,
ensembles, various guest appearances, concerts, jubilee celebrations,
compositions by Montenegrin authors and their performances, as well as
compositions by foreigners dedicated to Montenegro or important Montenegrins.
The second part of the publication,
entitled “Contributions linked to music events outside Montenegro”, deals with
music events in Europe and the world, as well as the work of famous foreign
composers whose works have been performed in Montenegro.
Three registers are given at the
end of the manuscript: Register of Names, Register of Music Associations (music
and singing societies, choirs, associations, orchestras) and Register of
Montenegrin Periodicals.
The NLM funds, which represent
one of the most important library collections, were used to create the
Bibliography and the collaborators on the project were: Ljiljana Đorđević and
Veljko Belević.
