In anticipation
of the upcoming CDNL (Conference of Directors of National Libraries) annual
meeting, on September 6, 2021, a virtual discussion group was organized, which
included representatives of 4 national libraries, from the following countries:
Estonia, Ireland, Romania and Montenegro.
The meeting was
held via Webex application, and the main topic of discussion was the challenges
brought to libraries by the crisis caused by the emergence of the COVID-19
virus and what we had the opportunity to learn from them. We got chance to
explain how we managed to cope with the unforeseen situation and how much it
affected our business and availability to users. The National Library of
Montenegro “Đurđe Crnojević”, among other things, could proudly point out that
it was fully available to its users, since at no time did the reading room stop
working, and in this regard we carefully followed the guidelines and
recommendations of IFLA and acted accordingly.
The members of
the group on behalf of NLM were MS Dragica Lompar, director and Sladjana
Sjekloća, international cooperation coordinator. Representatives of national
libraries will have the opportunity to deepen their story as part of the CDNL
annual meeting to be held on Wednesday, September 8th.
