A book “Elena d'Italia, La Regina
Buona”, written by Guglielmo Bonanno di San Lorenzo was presented in the
crowded Ceremonial Hall of the National Library of Montenegro on November 16,
2019.
Speaking about the book,
Professor Dr. Vesna Kilibarda pointed out that it is an interesting reading material
that affirms the image and work of the Montenegrin princess and the Italian
queen, as well as the relations between Montenegro and Italy, which were
greatly deepened and strengthened by Jelena's marriage.
Lela Matijato Majorana, journalist
and psychotherapist, spoke about the great humanity that Jelena expressed even
as a girl in Cetinje, wanting to help the Montenegrin wounded in the
Montenegrin-Turkish battles, as well as her affection towards small, ordinary
people. Baron, prof. dr Carlo Majorana Gravina, essayist and journalist,
referred to the history of Montenegrin-Italian ties and relations and the
symbolism that Cetinje, as Jelena's hometown has for Montenegro. Author of the
book, Guglielmo Bonanno di San Lorenzo told a series of anecdotes related to
the humanitarian work of Queen Jelena, pointing out that he was extremely
pleased for getting the opportunity to speak in Cetinje about this historical
figure who has linked the two nations permanently.
The promotion was organized by
the Library in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture of Montenegro and
Friendship Association Italy-Montenegro “Regina Elena”.
