The National Library of
Montenegro “Đurđe Crnojević” in cooperation with PI Gymnasium Cetinje marked
the World Letter Writing Day on May 10.
On this occasion, in the
premises of the Library, 12 pupils of the Cetinje Gymnasium wrote written
assignments on the topic “A letter to the future me - instead of an e-mail”,
which were evaluated by representatives of both institutions.
David Vuković, student of
the second grade won the first place and collection of selected works by Danilo
Kiš, containing books: “Rani jadi”, “Grobnica za Borisa Davidoviča”,
“Peščanik”, “Psalam 44”, “Enciklopedija mrtvih”, “Mansarda”, “Lauta i ožiljci”
and “Bašta, pepeo”. The second place and
valuable book “Muzeji, remek-dela svetske arhitekture”, by Đulija Kamin, were
won by the first-grade student Milica Radović, while the third place and a book
“The World's Greatest Treasures: Masterworks in Gold and Gems from Ancient
Egypt to Cartier” by Gianni Guadalupi won Anita Janković, the
second-grade student.
All students got the
Library’s membership cards, and the three best papers were read out publicly
after the winner was announced. The letters, written by
Mašan Kaluđerović, a first-year student and Ivana Ivanović, a third-grade
student, stood out among the non-awarded works.
The event was enriched by
a very successful exhibition of letters “When Words Flow out”, from the
Manuscript and Documents Collection of the Library, whose author is Boris
Kaluđerović – library consultant.
