The publication “Art Treasures of Montenegro” published by the National
Library of Montenegro “Đurđe Crnojević” and the Ministry of Culture of
Montenegro, received the best equipped book award at the 14th
International Book and Education Fair in Podgorica
As stated in explanation
of the award, this reprint edition presents for the first time the artistic
treasure of Montenegro in the historical continuity, starting from ancient
cultures, such as the Neolithic, Metal Age, Pre-Illyrian and Illyrian periods.
The
book also covers the Hellenistic-Roman period, early Christian arts until the
artistic expression of the Renaissance, Baroque and modern era, which in its
many-sidedness encompasses the artistic directions in which the Montenegrin
authors especially expressed themselves. The author of the text of
this very important book is the art historian Pavle Mijović who skillfully made
a selection of rich material, as well as its description.
