On 14th and 15th December 2009 within the premises of Montenegrin COBISS Centre at the Central National Library “Djurdje Crnojevic” in Cetinje, a two-day Assembly of Montenegrin Association of Librarians (UBCG) was held. It was attended by 65 delegates from Montenegrin libraries of all profiles.
The agenda item for the first day of the event included the election of Assembly bodies – the Working Presidency, the Verification Commission, the Nomination Commission, the Minute-Taker and Report Verifier. Then the current UBCG President, Branislav Borilovic, presented the Report on the Work of the Association and the Financial Report, both unanimously approved. The Assembly also adopted the following documents: IFLA / UNESCO Public Library Manifest, IFLA / UNESCO School Library Manifest, IFLA – Internet Manifest; the IFLA 2002 Glasgow Declaration on Libraries, Information Services and Intellectual Freedoms.At the end of the first working day, the new nine-member Management Board was elected. Ruža Danilovic from the Library of the Faculty of Maritime Studies in Kotor was nominated and elected UBCG President, and the new Secretary is Vjenceslava Ševaljevic from CNL “Djurdje Crnojevic” from Cetinje. The new Supervisory Board and the Court of Honour were also elected.The following day was devoted to presentations on the issue of the Significance and Prospects for the Development of Local History Library Holdings. The first speaker was Jelena Djurovic, the CNL Director, focusing on the National Holdings of Monetenegrina: Establishment, Safeguarding and Development. Than the guest speaker from the Department for Library and Information Studies, Prof Dr Aleksandra Vranes, held a presentation focusing on the Significance and Prospects for the Development of Local History Library Holdings. Nevenka Mitrovic, Director of Town Library and Reading Room of Herceg Novi had a power point presentation on Local History Library of Boka Kotorska held within their library. Slavka Vukovic and Veselinka Loktiononv had a presentation about the Local History Holdings of the Public Library “Vojislav Bulatovic Strunjo” from Bijelo Polje, and Jasmina Bajo talked about the Local History Collection held at the Town Library of Kotor.In addition to the working part of the event, the participants also had an organised tour of the cultural and historic sights of Cetinje.
