This year, National Library of Montenegro “Djurdje Crnojevic“ will celebrate World Book and Copyright Day through a great campaign under the slogan “Open Book – Open Mind”.
On 23rd April, in order to popularize books, reading and libraries, National Library “Đurđe Crnojević” will provide free membership to all interested citizens. Montenegrin National Library invited all libraries in Montenegro to join the action, and the majority of the city and national libraries accepted the invitation. This means that April 23 will be a day of open libraries in Montenegro.
In addition, at 12 am on the Castle Square in Cetinje, several hours of program will be held to under three slogans: GIVE BOOK, BUY BOOK and EXCHANGE BOOK, along with the music, art and drama program. Stands will be placed on the Castle Square, where exhibitors will donate books to visitors and sell their publications at discounted prices, but also where interested visitors will be able to exchange their books.Invitation to join the campaign is addressed to all publishers’ associations in Montenegro, and we’re using this opportunity to invite them to participate in it. On the town square, and in parallel with this program, the students of the Music Academy will play in the orchestra, the students of the Faculty of Dramatic Arts will speak verses and passages from the works of domestic and foreign literature, while the students of the Academy of Fine Arts, and fine arts students of the Secondary School “Petar Lubarda” will paint / draw on the topics contained in the slogan “Open Book -Open Mind.”
At 18 o’clock on the same evening, an exhibition of works by students of Fine Arts Academy and students of the Secondary School “Petar Lubarda” will be held in the Conference Hall of the National Library of Montenegro “Djurdje Crnojevic”. The sponsor of the project is the Ministry of Culture of Montenegro, while the organization of celebration of this important international date helped the Old Royal Capital Cetinje, Secretariat for Social Affairs and Youth of Municipality Cetinje, Faculty of Dramatic Arts, Academy of Fine Arts, Music Academy and High School of Art “Petar Lubarda”.
