Jubilee of 110 years since the birth of Radovan Zogović, one of the most important Montenegrin poets of the twentieth century, was marked last night in the Ceremonial Hall of the National Library “Đurđe Crnojević” in Cetinje.
The Author Miraš Martinović spoke on Zogović’s work and life.
“I am honored to talk about Radovan Zogović here at the National Library “Đurđe Crnojević”. Both the place and the personality require a special obligation, as well as the anniversary we celebrate – 110 years since the birth of a great poet, storyteller, romance writer, literary researcher and polemicist”, said Martinović.
In 1970, Radovan Zogović published an anthology “Crnogorske epske pjesme raznih vremena” which, as Martinović thinks has caused dismay over the identity sign that Zogović put in these poems.
“He was not forgiven by some people from the circles of that time, which today spread in and over Montenegro. His choices were attacked and challenged as well as his criteria, way, approach and especially Montenegrin part of him. But, despite this, this book and his poems survived”, explained Martinović.
According to Martinović, Zogović has done much, both for Montenegrin literature, and for spirituality and culture in general. Bogić Rakočević, a writer and television creator, and now director of the National Library “Đurđe Crnojević” who is the author of the documentary movie about Zogović shown at this occasion, agrees with him.
The film was made within the television serial “Poetika Montenegrina” and in the co-production of the National Library and Television of Montenegro.
Radovan Zogović was born on August 19, 1907 in the Mašnica near Andrijevica. He attended high school in Berane, Peć and Tetovo, and graduated from the Faculty of Philosophy in Skopje.
He is the author of the novel “Kožuh s pola rukava” and a series of poetic books, among which there are: “Plameni golubovi”, “Na poprištu”, “Prkosne strofe”, “Artikulisana riječ”, “Žilama za kamen”, “Pejzaži i nešto se dešava”, “Lično sasvim lično”, “Knjažeska kancelarija”.
