The Centre of Montenegrin Virtual Library (MVL) operates as a part of the Central National Library ′Đurđe Crnojević′ from Cetinje. Ten libraries have so far been included in the COBISS.CG system. Apart from the Central National Library ′Đurđe Crnojević′ from Cetinje and the University Library, they include most of the higher education libraries and the Public Library ′Radosav Ljumović′ from Podgorica.
Currently stage II of the Montenegrin Virtual Library is in progress. The Full Membership Agreement for libraries to the COBISS.CG library information system has been signed by the total of 14 new libraries, 10 of them public libraries (Bar, Berane, Bijelo Polje, Budva, Cetinje, Herceg Novi, Kolašin, Kotor, Nikšić, Pljevlja), two specialised libraries (the Library of the Historic Institute of Montenegro and the Library of the Clinical Centre of Montenegro) one higher education library (Library of the Faculty of Medicine in Podgorica), and one secondary school library (Library of the Secondary Vocational Schoo “Ivan Uskoković” from Podgorica).Two COBISS2/Cataloguing – beginner course will be organised at the premises of the MVL centre for the librarians of newly joined libraries in order for them to gain necessary skills for the work in the joint bibliographic database. The courses will be organised between 19 and 24 November and 10 and 14 December 2007. There will be the total of 26 trainees from Montenegrin libraries attending both courses.It should be noted that the computer equipment for the newly joined libraries was donated by IZUM from Maribor, and the additional equipment for public libraries from Cetinje, Kolašin and Berane was provide by the Ministry of Culture, Sport and Media of Montenegro.The traditional COBISS conference will be taking place at Habakuk Congress Centre in Maribor on 28th and 29th November, organised by the Institute of Information Sciences (IZUM). This year’s conference will focus around the issue of: COBISS – Support to Intercultural Dialogue. Some 25 librarians from Montenegro will take part at the conference. The director of Central National Library “Đurđe Crnojević” from Cetinje, Mrs Jelena Đurović is a member of the Programme Board, as was the case on previous years. Mrs Đurović will also be participating to the round table discussion on Retrieving Bibliographic Entries from Different Cultural Contexts.
