The annual COBISS conference was held in Maribor from 27 – 29 November 2007, under the title “COBISS – Supporting Intercultural Dialogue (On the Brink of European Year of Intercultural Dialogue)“. The conference was attended by 300 participants from Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Montenegro, Macedonia, Serbia and Kosovo.
Montenegro was represented by 25 librarians from CNL „Đurđe Crnojević“, the University Library, faculty and public libraries.One of the topics discussed within the COBISS conference was “Taking Over Bibliographic Data from Different Cultural Environments”. Within this session, Jelena Đurović, director of the CNB „Đurđe Crnojević” presented the experiences of Montenegrin libraries using the COBISS programme package. In her presentation she focused on the advantages of automation in library operation, particularly in the light of small library systems, such as the Montenegrin.On 28th November 2007, 20th anniversary of COBISS, a celebration was organised for conference participants. On the occasion the jubilee awards were given to individuals who contributed to the development and spread of COBISS information system in Slovenia, Montenegro, Serbia, Macedonia and Bosnia and Herzegovina. Jelena Đurović, director of CNB „Đurđe Crnojević“, the leading library in the library information system in Montenegro, had the honour of being granted the award.
