Memorandum of Cooperation between the National and University Library “Kliment Ohridski” from Skopje and Central National Library “Đurđe Crnojević” was signed at Cetinje. The Agreement was signed by Borko Zafirovski, director of NUl “Kliment Ohridski” and Jelena Đurović, director of CNL “Đurđe Crnojević”.
The Memorandum valid until 2009 (renewed automatically if within this time there are no special requests form either side) envisages that in future these institutions will exchange experts in the field of librarianship, as well as professional, scientific, bibliographic and other own editions with regular mutual notifications of new editions. The exchange of books, journals, newspapers, electronic editions and other materials has also been agreed (this process is to go through relevant departments of both libraries), as well as inter-library lending in accordance with the IFLA programme for Universal Availability of Publications, with payment facilitations. The Memorandum also envisages joint organisation of scientific and educational programmes. Libraries strive for enhancement of cooperation, considering their joint interest in the area of library and information sciences, aiming to develop Macedonian and Montenegrin cultural links. The official ceremony was attended by Vera Naumovska, Macedonian Vice Consul to Montenegro. Incidentally, this is the first national level memorandum entered into between libraries since the popular vote in favour of Montenegrin independence.
