The Umbrella Agreement on the implementation of COBISS in Montenegro was signed on 18.12.2006 at Cetinje, between IZUM, Maribor and CNB “Đurđe Crnojević”.
The Agreement was signed by Mr Tomaž Seljak, M.A., director of IZUM, and Jelena Đurović, director of CNB.Within its Department for Library Activity Development, CNB has established the COBISS centre for Montenegro as a support to the implementation of the Montenegrin Virtual Library project, thus creating the conditions for:– planning and harmonising the activities related to computer networking of libraries in Montenegro;– maintenance of joint computer and communication capacities for the operation of the system and central services;– provision of COBISS programme equipment and user documents for mutual cataloguing– management of mutual COBIB.CG data base and COBISS.CG system;– offering expert assistance to libraries when purchasing, installing and maintaining computer equipment, as well as in data conversion and transfer from other systems;– organising and delivering training and assessing qualifications of librarians for participation in mutual cataloguing.The Agreement implies the termination of individual Full Membership Agreements of libraries in Montenegro, entered into with IZUM and signing the agreement with CNB by the end of January 2007. The implementation of the 2nd stage of the MVL project (inclusion of public and specialised libraries in COBISS) should be completed by the end of 2007. By accessing the MVL, the libraries will have full access to benefits offered by the system, both for users in retrieval of information, and for librarian.The rights and obligations of libraries in the COBISS.CG system, will be regulated by the Full Membership Agreement to be made between the MVL Centre and individual libraries.
