Within the 3rd International Podgorica Book Fair a round table was organized focusing on the issue of “Cooperation of National Libraries in the Region” presenting the main achievements of such collaboration.As a part of the Fair events, a roundtable discussion focusing on “Cooperation of National Libraries in the Region” was held highlighting the most important outcomes of this cooperation.
The round table discussion participants were Jelena Đurović, CNL “Djurdje Crnojevic” director, Sreten Ugričić, manager of the National Library of Serbia, Ismet Ovčina, director of the National and University Library of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Dragan Marković, director of the University Press, a publishing house from Sarajevo.In her capacity of the host, Jelena Durović emphasized that, judging by the tradition, libraries are the institutions which cooperate well regardless of the geographic, political, economic and other barriers and differences. Successful cooperation among the national libraries in the region is implemented via numerous projects, the most significant being COBISS.Net, then the implementation of the agreement by which the authors or copyright holders are, on the occasion of initial bibliographic processing, to name the language used to write the publication, the exchange of the obligatory copy and international publication exchange.Following the round table discussion, Sreten Ugričić and Ismet Ovčina visited the CNL “Đurđe Crnojević” and learnt of its organizational set-up and projects underway. They expressed particular interest for the ongoing reconstruction and adaptation of the building and setting up an operational Montenegrin COBISS centre.
