On 23 October, Mr Ivan Radulović, MA, Director of the National Library of Montenegro “Đurđe Crnojević”, paid a working visit to the National Library of Serbia in Belgrade, where he met with the Library’s Director, Jasmina Ninkov.
During a cordial and constructive meeting, the two directors exchanged views on the current challenges facing national libraries, including digitisation and the long-term preservation of library materials, the development of bibliographic and cataloguing systems, and the adaptation of library services to the needs of today’s users.
Particular attention was given to opportunities to strengthen cooperation between the two institutions, which share a long-standing tradition of professional exchange. Both parties agreed that there is considerable scope for further developing their partnership through the exchange of professional expertise and publications, joint projects, and closer ties between library professionals.
Director Radulović emphasised that the National Library of Montenegro attaches great importance to regional cooperation and will continue to foster partnerships with similar institutions in the interest of preserving and ensuring access to the region’s written cultural heritage.
The visit to Belgrade also provided an opportunity to attend the 69th International Belgrade Book Fair, taking place from 23 to 31 October under the slogan “Books Bring Us Together”, with Tunisia as this year’s Guest of Honour.
On 24, 25 and 26 October, Director Radulović visited the stands of numerous publishers, explored new publications and held discussions with publishing house representatives on opportunities for future cooperation.
