AMBASSADOR OF PALESTINE VISITS THE NATIONAL LIBRARY OF MONTENEGRO

His Excellency Rabii Alhantouli, Ambassador of the State of Palestine to Montenegro, visited the National Library of Montenegro “Đurđe Crnojević”. During the visit, he met with the Library’s Director, Ivan Radulović, to discuss the current situation and developments in Palestine, as well as the importance of culture, literature and books as a means of fostering dialogue, understanding and connections between people and nations.

The discussion highlighted the importance of culture in preserving identity and heritage, particularly in times of great adversity. Books remain enduring custodians of collective memory and records of a people’s history, culture and traditions, while also serving as bridges between different cultures and fostering mutual understanding.

On this occasion, the Ambassador of Palestine presented the National Library of Montenegro with 14 publications, which will be added to the Library’s collections and preserved for future generations of readers and researchers. Among the donated works are translations into Montenegrin of works by the renowned Palestinian poet Mahmoud Darwish, making part of Palestine’s rich literary heritage more accessible to readers in Montenegro.

This valuable donation contributes to the promotion of Palestinian culture and literature in Montenegro and reaffirms the importance of libraries as places where cultures meet, heritage is preserved and lasting ties between peoples are nurtured.

The meeting took place in an atmosphere of open dialogue and mutual respect, reflecting a shared belief that culture and books can provide a powerful platform for building connections and fostering dialogue. Both parties expressed their satisfaction with the meeting and their commitment to continuing cooperation between the National Library of Montenegro and the Embassy of the State of Palestine, with a view to further enriching their partnership through new cultural programmes and projects in the period ahead.
