NATIONAL LIBRARY OF MONTENEGRO “ĐURĐE CRNOJEVIĆ” RECEIVES CERTIFICATE OF APPRECIATION ON THE 20TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE “VOJISLAV MINIĆ” ACCESSIBLE FORMATS LIBRARY
The National Library of Montenegro has received a certificate of appreciation in recognition of its contribution and support for the work of the “Vojislav Minić” Accessible Formats Library, at a ceremony marking the 20th anniversary of the institution.
The ceremony provided an opportunity to celebrate two decades of the Accessible Formats Library, an institution whose work helps make literature, cultural heritage and other content accessible to users who require accessible formats.
Over the past 20 years, the Library has produced thousands of publications in audio and other accessible formats and facilitated hundreds of thousands of loans. It has also organised numerous literary events, panel discussions and other cultural programmes for its users and the wider cultural community.
Božidar Denda, Director of the “Vojislav Minić” Accessible Formats Library, emphasised that its achievements were primarily the result of the dedication of the people behind its work, as well as the many awards recognising the importance of the institution’s contribution. These include two Council of Europe awards for projects associated with European Heritage Days, alongside numerous national accolades, including the “Dr Niko Simov Martinović” Award, the highest distinction conferred by the Library Association of Montenegro.
He also highlighted the importance of the amendments to the Law on Library Services, adopted in October last year, which granted the Library the status of the National Library Centre for library collections in accessible formats and designated it as the central coordinating institution for libraries and departments holding accessible-format materials in Montenegro.
During the ceremony, certificates of recognition and letters of appreciation were presented to individuals and institutions whose work and support have contributed to the development of the “Vojislav Minić” Accessible Formats Library.
The certificate presented to the National Library of Montenegro underscores the importance of institutional cooperation in the library sector and of joint efforts to ensure that cultural heritage is accessible to all users.
