The course was led by senior librarians and holders of a Master's degree in Library and Information Science, Vesna Kovačević and Sanja Martinović. It was attended by ten librarians representing the National Library of Montenegro “Đurđe Crnojević”, the Herceg Novi Public Library and Reading Room, the “Njegoš” Public Library in Nikšić, the Faculty of Law, and the Faculty of Political Sciences in Podgorica.
The course is intended for librarians who already hold authorisation to create bibliographic records for monographic publications within the COBISS3 shared cataloguing system. Its aim is to provide participants with the knowledge and practical skills required for the independent cataloguing of other types of library materials.
During the course, participants became familiar with the COMARC/B format for various types of library materials, the creation of bibliographic records, the fundamentals of the MARC 21 format and its mapping to COMARC/B, as well as the specific application of the COMARC/B format in the preparation and maintenance of bibliographies. The programme also covered the preparation and printing of bibliographies, the use of the CORES database, which contains information on current and former editors of continuing resources, and procedures for identifying and editing duplicate bibliographic records. A significant part of the course was devoted to practical training.
