CELEBRATION OF THE INTERNATIONAL CHILDREN'S BOOK DAY

The National Library marked the International Children's Book Day by visiting “Pavle Kovačević” Elementary School in Grahovo. The school was visited by the director of the National Library, Ivan Radulović, MSc, and acting assistant director for library affairs, Vesna Kovačević, MSc.

On that occasion, 95 publications, mostly school reading books and children's fiction, were donated, which significantly enriched the school library fund. Also, the Montenegrin bibliography, a unique source of information for the study of all areas of social life, was presented to the school.

The book has a special importance in the upbringing of children, because it encourages the development of imagination, creativity and critical thinking. Through reading, children enrich their vocabulary, develop empathy and learn to understand the world around them, as well as themselves. Books open the door to new knowledge and experiences for them, creating a foundation for lifelong learning and love for the written word.

International Children's Book Day is celebrated on April 2, the birthday of the famous writer Hans Christian Andersen, in order to highlight the importance of children's literature and encourage a love towards reading from an early age. This day is a worldwide reminder of how important books are for a child's proper development and education.
