Director of the National Library of Montenegro “Đurđe Crnojević”,
Dragica Lompar, assistant director for development, Dragan Mirković,
head of the Department for Library Information System and Digitization,
Vjenceslava Ševaljević continued their tour of Montenegrin libraries
this week.
On Tuesday, September 30, they first visited the Public Library in
Plav, which operates as part of the “Husein Bašić” Cultural Center.
Hosts were Vladimir Knežević, director of the Cultural Center, Fikret
Canović, secretary of the Secretariat for Local Self-Government in the
Municipality of Plav, Alija Redžematović, long-time manager of the
library in Plav (now retired), as well as librarians Edina Šabović and
Erna Čelić. Director Knežević informed the attendees about the plans for
the renovation of the premises of the Cultural Center. He stated that
the Cultural Center in Plav is the initiator and organizer of numerous
cultural events in this municipality.
Director Lompar praised the activities of the Center and the Library,
noting that the main reason for this visit is to initiate the inclusion
of this library in the COBISS.CG system, as this is a legal obligation,
and only two public libraries are not members of the Montenegrin
library and information system. She also mentioned the necessity of
separating the Library from the Cultural Center. Director Knežević
stated that membership in COBISS.CG is planned as soon as possible.
Representatives of the National Library visited the premises of the
Public Library and gave the employees advices on reorganizing the fund
and setting aside a children's corner.
On the same day, the National Library delegation visited the Public
Library in Andrijevica, which is part of the Center for Culture and
Sports in that city. They were welcomed by the director of the Center
for Culture and Sports “Mihailo Lalić”, Ivan Radojević, the manager of
the Municipality of Andrijevica, Saša Maslovarić, and the manager of the
Library, Jovanka Mirčić. In a very constructive conversation, emphasis
was placed on the membership of the Public Library in Andrijevica in the
COBISS.CG system. The library has the necessary professional library
staff, it is only necessary to provide part of the equipment and
financial resources for the installation and implementation of the
system, as well as for training for working in the COBISS system. The
hosts informed the representatives of the National Library that this is
one of their following activities. They made a tour throug the premises
of the Library, and it was concluded that the space meets the standards
and that it is a good thing that by moving surpluses, additional space
can be created for new publications.
During her visit to Andrijevica, Director Lompar was a guest on the local broadcaster - Radio Andrijevica.
