MONTENEGRIN LIBRARIANS AT THE COBISS CONFERENCE IN MARIBOR

The Institute of Information Sciences from Maribor organized the traditional 24th COBISS conference, under the slogan “Let's work together to build trust in science” on October 23 and 24.

200 participants attended the conference, which was held in the premises of IZUM, and over 500 librarians followed the presentation via the Zoom application. Montenegro was represented by Dragica Lompar, M.Sc., director of the National Library of Montenegro, Vjenceslava Ševaljević, M.Sc., head of the COBISS Center of Montenegro, Đurđa Martinović, M.Sc., information system librarian, Milutin Đukić, system engineer at the COBISS Center of Montenegro, as well as Jelena Vukasović from Kotor City library, Sonja Manojlović from the Mojkovac City Library, Azra Kurtagić from the Rožaje Public Library, Sofija Stanković from the MASA (Montenegrin Academy of Sciences and Arts) Library and Biljana Čelebić from the Library of the National Museum of Montenegro.

Crnu Goru su predstavljali mr Dragica Lompar, direktorica Nacionalne biblioteke Crne Gore, mr Vjenceslava Ševaljević, rukovodilac COBISS centra Crne Gore, mr Đurđa Martinović, bibliotekarka za informacioni sistem, Milutin Đukić, sistem inženjer u COBISS centru Crne Gore, kao i Jelena Vukasović iz Gradske biblioteke Kotor, Sonja Manojlović iz Gradske biblioteke Mojkovac, Azra Kurtagić iz Narodne biblioteke Rožaje, Sofija Stanković iz Biblioteke CANU i Biljana iz Biblioteke Narodnog muzeja Crne Gore. Jelena Vukasović from Kotor presented the “Ključne riječi” podcast, authored by colleague Ognjen Savić from the Central University Library of Montenegro. The COBISS Center of Montenegro presented its activities and results in the previous two years through a poster presentation.

A session of the Council of Cobiss.Net, whose members are Dragica Lompar and Vjenceslava Ševaljević was held before the Conference, on October 22.  The new president of this body was elected and it is Tamara Butigan Vučaj from the National Library of Serbia. The session discussed the development aid of the Republic of Slovenia for 2024, as well as the necessity to replace old computers and outdated operating systems in all countries, considering that they represent a major security risk for the functioning of the entire network.

During the two conference days, various topics were presented: the use of artificial intelligence in library software and services, the accessibility of services for vulnerable groups, the launch of a new e-book lending solution COBISS Ela, the presentation of a new generation of software (COBISS Lib, COBISS Cat and COBISS+), e-books today and tomorrow, new models of bibliographic data, users at the center of library services.
