The delegation of the National Library of Montenegro “Đurđe Crnojević” - director Dragica Lompar, MA, head of the Department for Library Information System and Digitization, Vjenceslava Ševaljević, MA, and information system librarian, Đurđa Martinović, MA, continued with a series of visits to Montenegrin libraries and visited the libraries in Rožaje on October 10.
In the premises of the Public Library of Rožaje, the delegation was received by the director Fetija Kurtagić and her colleagues. Given that the primary reason for this visit was the donation of the National Library in the form of books in the Albanian language for the Elementary School “Daciće”, the meeting was also attended by the director of that school, professor Ševćet Dacić.
At the beginning of the meeting, NLM director Dragica Lompar reminded the attendees of the importance and role of school libraries and also informed the attendees that,a meeting dedicated to the inclusion of all school libraries in the COBISS.CG system was recently held in the Ministry of Education, Science and Innovation, upon her own initiative. She expressed her satisfaction that NLM can donate books to this school library, especially since a certain number of publications from the school library was destroyed in a fire in 2020. Principal Dacić thanked warmly for the donation, and he pointed out that older textbooks in the Albanian language are also in great demand, especially primers, so Lompar offered to contact the Institute for Textbooks and Teaching Aids in order to try to find older textbooks.
On the same day, representatives of the National Library visited the Bosniak Council in Montenegro. The director of the Rožaje National Library, Fetija Kurtagić, and the senior librarian Mirsad Nurković, who performs the duties of the registry office in the Rožaje Public Library, also joined this visit. The hosts of this official visit were the President of the Bosniak Council, Suljo Mustafić, the President of the Executive Board of the Bosniak Council, Mirsad Rastoder, the advisor for legal affairs, Erduan Demić and librarian Elma Osmanović Đozgić.
Given that President Mustafić and Director Lompar had already discussed the potential inclusion of the library of the Bosniak Council in Montenegro in the COBSS.CG system during the previous meeting in Cetinje, the conversation, which took place in a very cordial and constructive atmosphere, was devoted to the greatest extent to familiarization with the concrete prerequisites and activities necessary for the realization of inclusion in the system. President Suljo Mustafić informed everyone about the conditions provided for the functioning of the library, noting that the librarian has passed a professional exam, which is an important prerequisite for the adequate operation of this library, which has a large number of users. The NLM delegation visited the library's premises and noted that the space is well organized and that the publications are already sorted by UDC number. During the meeting, colleague Đurđa Martinović and librarian Elma Đozgić Osmanović already collected data for the Fund Record. It was concluded that the implementation of the inclusion of this important library and the COBISS.CG system should be started as soon as possible. In all current and future activities, the help and expert advice of colleagues from the Rožaje Public Library is crucially important.
