SPECIAL EDITIONS OF THE NATIONAL LIBRARY OF MONTENEGRO ENRICHED BY THE NEW EDITION

On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the birth of Radivoje Lola Đukić, the great Yugoslav playwright, novelist, poet, painter, film and TV screenwriter, the National Library of Montenegro “Đurđe Crnojević” has included the publication of one of his books in the Work Program for 2023.

Following the kind suggestion and recommendation of Lola's wife, Mrs. Jelena Đukić, and to everyone's satisfaction, it was decided that it would be the work that he personally liked the most and which brought him the prestigious award “SPHERE” for the best science fiction novel – “Sheep on the Boulevard of the October Revolution”.

Here is a quote from the introduction of this edition of the novel written by the director of NBCG, Mrs. Dragica Lompar, which say something about both the novel and the author: “Sheep on the Boulevard of the October Revolution” almost has the form of a film script, which is far from surprising, knowing how much Radivoje Lola Đukić knew the structure of the film script. Lola's unique personality was never appreciated to the extent he deserved, which is the case with many great people in this region. Truth, as a supreme value, is rarely welcome here. That's why Lola says: “You will never believe this story, and only because it is true! Because man has always been taught to believe lies.” Isn't this a message to everyone, as every day we stumble upon a truth that is not pleasant, and therefore not acceptable. Life in a lie is more comfortable and gives us personal justification for all weaknesses and inabilities, for all moral failures.”

The publication of this novel after 34 years since the first edition, according to Ms. Lompar, is a loud message that Lola Đukić has earned much greater interest from the public, both expert and non-expert, in the entire space of the former Yugoslavia.
