The “CROATICA - MONTENEGRINA
2022” event which was organized by the National Library of Montenegro in
cooperation with the Association of Montenegrins of Croatia from Rijeka, was
held last night, September 29, 2022.
The program included two parts,
namely the opening of the photo exhibition “The Metamorphosis of Dream’s
Images” by Ivica Nikolac and the presentation of writers from Rijeka: Davor
Mandić, Gordana Brkić Žagar and Milan Zagorac.
The photographs are the work of
Mr. Ivica Nikolac, who has been involved in this art since 1974. He graduated
in Croatian language and literature. He is the author of ten solo exhibitions
and participated in more than 70 group exhibitions. He was elected president of
the Croatian Photographic Union four times. He is a mentor and leader of
workshops on photography and old photographic techniques, lecturer and
essayist. He is the winner of numerous awards and recognitions. The author
introduced himself and explained where he got the inspiration for the
exceptional photos that were exhibited in the Ceremonial Hall of the National
Library of Montenegro “Đurđe Crnojević”.
As part of the literary part of
the program, Ms. Gordana Brkić Žagar and Mr. Davor Mandić introduced
themselves, and then introduced public to the creative work of Mr. Milan Zagorac.
In the foreword to the book
“Watercolor in the Eyes” by Gordana Brkić Žagar, written by the reviewer, Mr.
Marinko Krmpotić, it is stated that this author: “has been writing poems for 15
years, but it was not easy to persuade her to publish her first collection.
This somewhat paradoxical fact reveals one of the fundamental determinants of
Goga Brkić as a person and poet. Namely, from an early age, she reacts to life
and events in it poetically, that is, in such a way that she takes a
well-thought-out attitude about everything enriched by emotions and ideas.”
Mr. Davor Mandić was born in Pula
in 1976. He is employed as a journalist in culture. He publishes poetry, prose
and reviews. He published the book of poems “The Bridges” in 2009, the
collection of stories “I should imagine myself happy” in 2014, the novel “The
Devil's Symphony” in 2016 and now we have in our hands the collection of poems
“Two Circles, One Sorrow”, published in 2021.
These two writers introduced
their creative work to the visitors in the form of conversation. They talked
about each other like reviewers, pointed out the main features of the style
they master and write, but also resolved some doubts through the questions
asked. The audience could also enjoy the poetry that the authors selected and
read. Presented books were given as gifts to the public.
