CENL - CONFERENCE OF EUROPEAN NATIONAL LIBRARIANS HELD IN ANKARA

This year's CENL conference was held in Ankara, Turkey from June 19 to June 21, 2022.

The annual report and financial report for 2021 were adopted, as well as the action plan for the future period.

Barbara Lison, President of IFLA spoke about the Relevance of National libraries for society. From Lyubov Andriivna Dubrovina from Vernadsky National Library of Ukraine participants could hear more about situation in Ukrainian libraries, through the video she prepared. Marina Kaljurand, Member of European Parliament, spoke about EU digital agenda and responsibilities of big tech companies.

There were 6 case studies, prepared from the National libraries of Montenegro, Denmark, Czech Republic, Luxembourg, Great Britain and Germany.   

The National Library of Montenegro “Đurđe Crnojević” was represented by the director Dragica Lompar and senior librarian Sladjana Sjekloća, who had the opportunity to bring the audience closer to the importance of the Library through a Power Point presentation.

National Library of Estonia submitted EKN grant holder report. Marcie Hopkins from the British Library

spoke about IFLA’s Library Map of the World (Europe).

Strategic priorities for national libraries & CENL for the next 4 years were developed.

Next AGM will take place at the National Library of France next year.
