In accordance with the program
announcement, NLM "Đurđe Crnojević" marked the World Book and
Copyright Day. There was a part dedicated to the great Italian and world writer
Dante Alighieri, whose grandiose work is being celebrated all over the world
this year. Through interesting video presentations, Dante's works and works
about him from holdings of the National Library were presented to the general
public.
The second part was dedicated to the
Library’s users with the aim of popularizing books and reading, getting
acquainted with library holdings, ways of using materials and other library
activities. We can proudly point out that the response was very good and that
the Library got 50 new members during the day and distributed about 100 books
from its surplus - free of charge - to interested pupils, students and
citizens. The Library also prepared a valuable gift of school textbooks for pupils
of rural schools in the Cetinje municipality.
We use this opportunity to thank
everyone and invite our loyal users and users to be to help us show that the
book, as one of the greatest achievements of civilization, is unsurpassed in
educating and developing a democratic, open and humane society. The order of
celebrating two important dates around the world every year is more than
symbolic: the first is April 22 - Earth Day, and the second is April 23 – World
Book and Copyright Day.
